Sharon Sparks – Transitional Living Assistant

When I was a sophomore in college God gave me a burden for women’s ministry, specifically women who have been exploited. I learned about Refuge for Women when I was a Junior in college and immediately knew Refuge was going to be a special place. When I learned about Refuge for Women I began praying for the ministry, I had no idea how I could be involved since my plan was to move back to Ohio after I graduated. Little did I know God was paving a way for my involvement. I started dating and then married a man who lived surprisingly close to Refuge for Women! My last semester of college I applied to work at the Long-Term house and I started there a few short weeks after graduating and getting married. After the Long-Term program was paused I continued praying for the ministry patiently waiting for God to bring me back and He was faithful to do it!

Meet Sharon

I have been married 2 short years to the most amazing guy (I am biased). I absolutely love being outside, hiking, running, sitting in the sun, reading books, basically anything outside. My all time favorite animals are goats. Any goats. I am an avid tea drinker and can be found most Saturdays trying something new!

It is my joy in life to see God at work! I am so excited to see how God restores lives, renews hearts, and empowers each of us to be more like Him. I truly believe that God has a plan for each life, and I am honored to be a part in providing the tools and support for women to achieve and pursue their dreams.

A Note From Sharon

In a world where sexual sin is mostly kept silent, I feel it is important to bring a light to lives that are affected. I feel like sexual sins are a taboo for the church to talk about, most of society views these women as making the choice to go down a road of exploitation. I am very passionate about correcting these views and being a part of the restoration God seeks to bring.
